Words cannot describe the Incubus concert last saturday. Easily, easily, easily the best concert I've ever been too. Was not even close. One thing that was interesting was how many radio songs they did not play. They didn't play "Pardon Me," "Stellar," "Nice to Know You," "Priviledge," "Make a Move," or "A Certain Shade of Green" -all songs that have been on the radio. And for that matter, a whole lot of their songs were really laid back ones. They sort of remixed many of their songs and they ended with Aqueous Transmission. I thought it was the most amazing ending to a concert that there ever could be. Mike Einzenger pulled out the sitar and they played Aqueous Transmission. Holy cow! Here is a video from YouTube that someone else made from the same show of that song.
Isn't that the coolest thing you ever saw? I was so happy I went.
Yesterday, the Peachtree Lane Church of Christ had a contest to see who could blow a straw-wrapper the farthest from the straw. Ladies and gentleman, you are reading the blog of the man who won that contest.
Edit: It was definitely 107 in Northern California today. That is ridic.
On my mind right now is the takeover of the Gaza strip by militant Palestinian Hamas. And for that matter, the impressive cooperation on the part of Mahmoud Abbas in the West Bank. This is the most important event going on in the world right now and nobody is talking about it. Palestine is a de facto two state entity right now. Not that it actually exists de jure, but Hamas is in control of the Gaza Strip and Fatah is in control of the West Bank. I think this is a wonderful chance for Israel. I would love to see them establish a long-lasting and legitimate partnership with the Fatah Palestinians (not that they have been perfectly saintly, but they offer more hope than Hamas). Its effects would be felt all over the world. It would be felt not only on the shores of the Meditteranian but in Iran, Syria, Iraq, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and so on. It might be just the thing that has been needed for decades.
On my mind right now is the iPhone which is set to be released tomorrow. That thing could change the world. I hope it is a raving success. I am currently looking into either the Macbook or the Macbook Pro but I won't buy until they come pre-installed with Leopard. That will be in the fall.
On my mind is the appreciation for my wonderfully simple summer. I am enjoying it quite a bit.
On my mind is the fact that I have not come up with any idea for my senior thesis paper for next semester. That thing will be a beast. But at the same time, possibly the most rewarding thing I have done in my twenty-one years. Besides I guess being baptized.
On my mind right now is the music of Muse.
My mind is also occupied with the book I'm reading, The Little Drummer Girl. I'm about halfway done with it. Fantastic so far.
